Bought live crabs for dinner because I wanted 'fresh' and now we are staring at each other cos I don’t have the heart to end them. I think I’m just going to drive them to the beach and let them go.

Buddy, if you had to kill an animal with your own hands for food, you would realise just how difficult it can be. Imagine having to kill a chicken or a pig for your next meal. When you look into its eyes, knowing that you’re about to take its life, something inside you might have to die a little before you can bring yourself to do it. I think having to kill an animal for food yourself could make many people seriously reconsider eating meat, perhaps even turn vegetarian. When the meat is already on your plate, you don’t have to confront the life that was taken. But when a living, breathing animal is standing right in front of you, and you have to take its life with your own hands, it becomes a very different experience. And if your heart feels no struggle at all in that moment, then perhaps something essential to your humanity has already been lost.
